If you are shooting digitally, you can order prints from the photographer at the following rates:
8x10: $10
9x12: $12
11x14: $15
Otherwise the photographer can provide a DVD or CD with high quality images in Camera Raw format for your use.
PAID SHOOT DETAILS
If you have been hired for a paid shoot, and you are from out of town, your accommodatations and flights may be taken care of. However, due to the high amount of fraud in the industry among unscrupulous models or people posing as models, you will need to be able to guarantee your appearance. These items will be discussed in advance. Again, because the flights are non refundable, all fees for your flights and accommodations must be guaranteed.
Building a Portfolio: Worth its Weight in Gold
Testing with a photographer is one of the most sought after and most affordable ways to build a portfolio. The photographer waives his daily rate; you waive your modeling fee and get free images. P. Michael Perez will on occasion agree to do a test shoot with models that he feels have potential. Hundreds approach him each year. Few are selected to do a test. If you’re lucky enough to get a test shoot, you must agree to the following terms.
1. You and he will agree on a mutually agreeable time, usually a weekend day.
2. You will be on time. You get a 15 minute window for being late until the shoot is canceled.
3. If the photographer shoots with film, the model will be responsible for purchasing the film (about $10 a roll), and the photographer will be responsible for paying for processing. Count on shooting about 2 rolls. Ask about details regarding what kind of film to bring. Arrangements can be made to have film at the location.
4. To secure your appointment you need to send a check to Perez for the amount of $25. This fee can be applied to film. There are no refunds and the fee will not apply to future appointments if you have to cancel.
5. Light makeup will be provided at the shoot. Model must take care of his or her own hair; a makeup artist can be provided at extra cost.
6. Do not bring a friend or family member to the shoot unless approved by the photographer!
7. You must sign a model release. The release must be signed before the photo shoot. The release will indicate that Copyright and ownership of the photos belong to Perez. You will be allowed to use the images in your portfolio and for any promotional usage like a zed or comp card as long as a credit goes to the photographer. Usage on a webpage is ok as long as a credit and link are given. Any other usage shall result in copyright infringement. After the shoot you will be able to market yourself, launch your career and if used properly, actually go out and make money because of the images that will be made. In exchange, you must relinquish all sales rights to Perez who (in exchange for waiving his fee) is able to make his daily rate back by marketing the images. 8. Perez shoots in color and shoots on slide fillm and digitals. He does not provide prints. If shooting slides, you will get five slides at no charge. If you would like more, you will pay the duping fee for each (approximately $2.25 a slide). If you choose to take your images electronically, you can have 10 images at no charge which will be delivered to you via email, an FTP site, or a CD. Images can be delivered on a CD for $10 additional. If you'd like more than ten images, the cost is $1.25 each. You must pre-pay for all orders. Slides can be made into prints. There are several labs in the Hollywood area that do this. See the information under "Photo Labs."
9. Shoots must be confirmed 24 hours in advance.
10. Make sure to discuss clothing needs in advance.
11. Shoots are subject to weather conditions.
12. If you are from out of town and want to see your photos before you leave, additional costs will apply per roll of film. If you cannot see the photos before departing and want the entire lot of images to preview, you will be required to leave a deposit for the images.
